OOTD: Cozy Knits

With autumn fading and winter quickly approaching, my outfits have slowly been adopting more layers for warmth. While I don’t love Canadian winters, I do love the quickness that can come with layering in an outfit. As a wardrobe stylist, I have to admit that spending an afternoon of dreaming up outfit options in my closet for the pending weather isn’t the worst thing in the world.

Many women have confessed to me that they often face challenges when trying to layer. While there are no set rules are how to layer specifically, I prefer to use basics and incorporate one garment that has a pattern in it. This way you can incorporate colour and have multiple options for other items you can pull into your look from your closet.

As of late, I’ve been craving oversized knits and tights. I’m not normally one to wear tights, but after seeing these Secret tights from their fall collection, I knew I had to wear them. A fabulous plum hue, these tights can easily be worn with something just as colourful like my skirt, or can be worn with neutrals and provide a pop of colour in an outfit.

While I normally would have opted for boots in the late fall, I knew that my time with pumps would be numbered shortly, so I made an effort to wear these Miu Miu pumps. I love their deep carmel colour and the feminine feel they emit. For added warmth over my knit sweater, I threw on this corduroy jacket I found at Value Village years ago. It’s slightly too big, but when worn with big sweaters it fits me perfectly. It was only $3.00 — such a steal!
