Oscar de la Renta Creates Exclusive Line For The Outnet

It has just been released that Oscar de la Renta has developed an exclusive 24 piece line that will be sold at The Outnet. Oscar de la Renta’s chief executive officer, Alex Bolen admits to being surprised upon learning that some of his best outlet customers also shopped at the Madison Avenue stores.

Bolen also told WWD “…the brand’s outlet model is driven by surplus merchandise, and this marks the first time product has been actively developed for this channel of trade.”

When talking about the collection and where the clothing came from, Alex further told WWD, “We have things around here that are underutilized — [such as] 40 years of patterns, fabrics and artwork that a lot of people spent time on. We thought, perhaps we can put something together in a way that is new, that doesn’t require as much development time and in an exclusive way. The thing we have to be careful about is that we don’t want to dumb down our product or offer the same thing at two different prices.”

The collection will be released on The Outnet on February 26, 2013 with prices ranging from from $325 to $1,295. The majority of the collection will be priced below $1,000. I’m sure this collection will sell fast, so if you plan on purchasing any — like most, I’d be buy your computers when the clock strikes midnight.

I, for one love this collection. Some of the floral patterns are perfect for Spring, and look like they may have been used around the time trending 50 and 60’s.
